Status updates

Warning strike on trains and suburban trains from Thursday evening to Friday evening

Dear passengers,

The German Train Drivers' Union (GDL) has called for a warning strike on local and long-distance rail services throughout Germany from 10 p.m. on Thursday, 7 December 2023 to 10 p.m. on Friday, 8 December 2023. Restrictions and cancellations to rail services are expected from Thursday afternoon until midday on Saturday.

DB Regio AG trains and suburban trains are affected. In addition, one signal box between Halle and Sangerhausen is unmanned. The following lines are expected to be cancelled:

  • RE3 Lu. Wittenberg <> Berlin <> Schwedt/Stralsund
    There is an irregular replacement bus service between Lu. Wittenberg Hbf and Jüterbog.
  • RE4 Falkenberg <> Berlin <> Stendal
    An irregular replacement bus service has been organised between Falkenberg (Elster) and Jüterbog.
  • RE7 Dessau <> Berlin <> Senftenberg
    An irregular replacement bus service has been set up between Dessau Hbf and Bad Belzig.
  • RE13 Magdeburg <> Dessau <> Leipzig
    Trains run between Magdeburg Hbf and Dessau Hbf every 4 hours.
    The S2 line runs between Dessau Hbf and Leipzig Hbf every 2 hours.
  • RE14 Magdeburg <> Dessau <> Falkenberg
    The RE13 line runs between Magdeburg Hbf and Dessau Hbf every 4 hours.
  • RE18 Halle <> Naumburg <> Jena
  • RE20 Uelzen <> Stendal <> Magdeburg
    Trains run every 4 hours.
    The S1 line runs between Stendal and Magdeburg main station every 4 hours.
  • RE30 Halle <> Köthen <> Magdeburg
    A replacement bus service has been set up every 4 hours. > Link to the timetable <
    The RB47 line also stops between Calbe (Saale) Ost and Schönebeck (Elbe) in Gnadau and Schönebeck (Elbe)-Felgeleben. > Link to the timetable <
  • RE42 Leipzig <> Naumburg <> Jena <> Nürnberg
  • RB40 Braunschweig <> Helmstedt <> Magdeburg <> Burg
    Trains run between Braunschweig Hbf and Magdeburg Hbf every 4 hours.
    The RE1 line also stops between Burg (near Magdeburg) and Magdeburg-Neustadt in Möser, Gerwisch, Biederitz and Magdeburg Herrenkrug. > Link to the timetable <
  • RB51 Dessau <> Lu. Wittenberg <> Falkenberg
  • RB76 Weißenfels <> Zeitz
    An irregular replacement bus service has been set up.
  • RB78 Querfurt <> Merseburg (<> Halle)
    Trains run every 2 hours between around 6.30 am and 4 pm.
  • S1 Wittenberge <> Stendal <> Magdeburg <> Schönebeck
    Die S-Bahn verkehrt zwischen Stendal und Magdeburg Hbf im 4-Stunden-Takt.
    Die Linie RE20 verkehren im 4-Stunden-Takt.

  • S2 Dessau/Lu. Wittenberg <> Leipzig
    The S-Bahn runs between Dessau Hbf and Leipzig Hbf every 2 hours.
  • S3 Halle <> Leipzig <> Wurzen (<> Oschatz)
    The S-Bahn runs between Halle (Saale) Hbf and Leipzig Hbf every hour.
  • S5X / S5 Halle <> Leipzig <> Altenburg <> Zwickau
    The S5 line runs every 2 hours.
  • S8 Dessau/Lu. Wittenberg <> Halle
    The S-Bahn runs between Lu. Wittenberg Hbf and Halle (Saale) Hbf every 2 hours.
  • S9 Halle <> Delitzsch <> Eilenburg
    An irregular replacement bus service has been set up.
  • S47 Halle

As soon as we have more information, we will announce it here.

The trains and suburban trains of Abellio, Ostdeutsche Eisenbahngesellschaft (ODEG), Hanseatische Eisenbahn (HANS), Erfurter Bahn (EB) and Harzer Schmalspurbahnen (HSB) are not on strike. Nevertheless, strikes by individual employees of the infrastructure operator DB Netz may lead to temporary cancellations on these lines (with the exception of HSB).

Tip: On some routes you can switch to the regular bus routes.

  • Lu. Wittenberg <> Jessen: Bus 303
  • Halle <> Merseburg <> Leuna: Straßenbahn 5
  • Halle <> Querfurt: PlusBus  312
  • Merseburg <> Mücheln: Bus 721
  • Merseburg <> Querfurt: PlusBus 728
